The giving tree

We made a special trip this morning to the local K-Mart. The weather was really grey and wet, great for staying indoors.

We’d passed by this tree on multiple occasions. Each time, I’d reminded myself that we’d get something to put under the tree the next round but it had always slipped my mind.

You see, the presents under the tree are given by the store to someone in need. Since Christmas is not too far off, this time we had to make sure that we did not miss out doing that.

Bugs is a lucky little girl with heaps of toys to play with (the floor of our house is scattered with loads of them, tells you how great I am at keeping house doesn’t it?). But someone else might not be that fortunate. So off we went to the toy section to choose a toy to put under the tree.

Since Bugs was a real toy connoisseur, I had to enlist her help in selecting the gift. She studied the drums…

And the learning laptops…

And a variety of other toys before deciding that this toy puppy dog would be suitable for our purposes. Anything pink is a sure winner in her books.

We placed our gift in the designated area just before leaving the store. There it sits in the photo below right on top of the pile of presents that others had generously donated.

Hopefully it brings some joy to someone out there this festive season. I’ll end off with this lovely quote that I came across while researching on things to fill up my advent calendar with.

Have a fabulous day everyone!

“And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”
